Pollster John Zogby reports in our weekly White House report card that President Obama's administration failure to protect 4 million current and former federal workers from an overseas hacker attack hurt, but the positive jobs report kept him from an even worse week.
"A major hacking of millions of federal employees. Serious challenges to the Pacific trade deal. More deaths in Ukraine as Russian President Vladimir Putin asserts himself. And genuine worries that [the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria] can win and wreak more havoc. Whew, very bad.
"But the new jobs report comes out and helps save the president from disaster. A lot more new jobs than expected were reported and labor force participation is up. Wages are up only a little but they are up."
