Pollster John Zogby reports in our weekly White House report card that President Obama had a better than usual week, rebounding from last week's 'F' on the back of a good jobs report, help to Nigeria to find kidnapped school girls and even some jokes.

"A better week. First the economic news was better with 288,000 new jobs created, 179,000 of those in the private sector. The unemployment rate came down to 6.3 percent. (Critics remember this: the numbers of those who leave the workforce is not a new revelation. It has always been with us and in the calculation and it includes retires, disabilities, and those who have given up.)

“The latest polls have Mr. Obama hitting at least 45 percent, including my own Zogby Analytics poll. And the president scored some points with solid one-liners at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner last week.

“The messes continue in Syria, but there is no will for action. In the Ukraine, President [Vladimir] Putin says he is pulling back from the border and wants to postpone the referendum in the east. But who knows? Americans do not want to get involved. Where there was a will for action, the horrific kidnappings in Nigeria, the president deployed a team of criminologists, military advisors, and we can only guess who else to help. He responded to public outrage."
