Pollster John Zogby reports in our White House report card that President Obama had a good week, thanks to events that mostly went his way.
"All in all not a bad week at all for President Obama. Opposition voices to his nuclear pre-deal with Iran were silent. It is now Israel and Congress against world and American-Jewish public opinion.
“Over 200,000 new jobs were created and the unemployment rate dropped from 7.3 percent to 7 percent. (And, yes, I know all about the 'real unemployment rate', but the official one is the same number everyone has used for years).
“Signs are pointing to a limited budget deal worked out by Republican Rep. Paul Ryan and Democratic Sen. Patty Murray that would avoid another shutdown and eliminate at least some of the worst parts of sequestration.
“The Obamacare website is alive and working.
“And the passing of former South Africa President Nelson Mandela, a genuine hero on the world stage, is a powerful reminder that the quest for racial justice has had implications well beyond Soweto and Johannesburg — all the way to the White House."
